1. Information Technology

IT is a famous term that used to be referred to Information Technology. According to the Information Technology Association of America, it defines the study, design, development, implementation, support or management of computer-based information systems, particularly software applications and computer hardware. IT enables work to be done faster and due to the convinience that it brings, people all around the world in many sectors are using it in order to make their lives easier. At workplace, IT provides companies with the ability to process large amounts of information which helps employers to make better profit. The use of scanners and printers in a newspaper factory for examples make the production of newspapers to be large and fast. Besides, IT benefits both teachers and students at schools. The teaching and learning process that is based by IT creates an interesting environment in the classroom. Apart from that, businessmen and businesswomen who utilize IT enjoys great income when they are able to grab the chance of spreading their businesses overseas and serve not only local customers, but international customers as well.


2. Information and Communication Technology

Information and Communication Technology or ICT includes all technologies for the manipulation and communication of information. It is actually a system that enables IT to be used as it utilize the way of how IT can work. For instance, smart broadband, satellite, and globe.

IT and ICT are very similar. The only major different is that IT is widely used in industry, whereas ICT is commonly being applied in education aspects, especially places of learning such like schools, colleges, and universities. 3. Internet

There are so many definitions of internet on the web. The internet has an enormous amount of information which can be found in just a single click! As it provides so many details of various aspects, nowadays mankind could do any business through it such like online banking, chit-chatting, online shopping, online investment and so on. It seems that almost every daily matters can be settled faster with the help of internet, as long as it is being connected to one's computer.

4. Computer Mediated Communication

CMC is commonly associated with Computer Mediated Communication. Any communicative transaction that happens via the utilization of two or more networked computers can be

called as CMC (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer-mediated_communication) i.e facebook, friendster, instant messages, e-mails, so on and so forth. In other words, CMC is used for a lot of systems that enable people to keep in touch with one another by means of computers or networks (http://www.aect.org/edtech/ed1/14/index.html).

There are three types of CMC, namely, highly interactive communication, multi-way communication, as well as synchronous or asynchronous communication. The first type of CMC which is highly interactive communication is capable in supporting complex processes of interaction between the participants, whereas multi-way communication is likely to be in an electronic-mail environment where two or more people exchange messages, while synchronous
(i.e telephone conversation, face-to-face meeting, classroom-based discussion) or asynchronous (i.e fax, letter-writing) communication is a kind of interaction between two or more person in real time or the case of correspondence by letter or fax.

5. Netiquette

Combination of the word ‘net’ and ‘etiquette’ produces a term called netiquette which means proper attitudes whilst on a network (www.networkdictionary.com/networking/n.php). It also can be defined as the rules of etiquette on the internet (iss.leeds.ac.uk/info/257/getting_help/374/web_glossary). Whatever it is, a proper netiquette is very vital if one wants his or her voice or opinion to be heard and respected.

According to Virginia Shea in her book entitled Netiquette, there are 10 core rules of netiquette, namely remember the human, adhere to the same standards of behavior online that you follow in real life, know where you are in cyberspace, respect other people's time and bandwidth, make yourself look good online, share expert knowledge, help keep flame wars under control, respect other people's privacy, don't abuse your power, and last but not least, be forgiving of other people's mistakes. 6. Web Browser

As a kind of software application, web browser is used to retrieve, present, and traversing information resources on the World Wide Web (www). Then, all the related information will be shown on the screen in just a blink of an eye!
Due to frequent use of web browser, many geniuses came up with a lot more web browsers. They are Internet Explorer, Morzilla Firefox, Opera, Safari, Google Chrome and many others.

7. Navigating the web

The case of navigating the web or in simple words, directing the users to a third-party websites, occurs when a link takes the user ‘outside’ the document.
